Week 8—No Comply—Test Day, Meeting with actors, meeting with crew

We picked up our equipment Friday in preparation for our test day. We got the wonderful news we could not use a tripod or monitor because they connect to a non-ACM camera. We took the gear back to Maia’s house. Saturday, our child actors came and got to know each other a little better. Chloe and Dexy seem great, but Maddie is a little shy. Maia met with Scott on Sunday and he was great and enthusiastic. Our test day went well and we really got a sense of what we wanted to shoot and how to set it up.

Ciana Bird – Creating the Space

This week a little bit before and after the test shoot day, Maia and I went out to thrift stores to pick up things such as mirrors, vases, and other miscellaneous items to begin creating the environment in the rooms. On Wednesday we went out to pick up furniture pieces that we were able to find on craigslist as well as get some additional outfits for our actors.

Week 8—Mahina Smith—SAG, Actors, Food, Production Design

Update on last week, we were SAG approved, but they want Chloe’s social by the end of production. I’m still trying to figure that bit out. This week I ordered food, went to Costco to get snacks, and met with the actors. Costco had food/snacks, but unfortunately were out of toilet paper and wet wipes. They said they would get a new shipment in today so Zach went back and they had already run out of toilet paper, our new plan is to try and find it by other means. I have also been helping with production design trying to find new “kid art” which means unfortunate art that I made as a child that for some reason still exists. Pictures of options below.

Week 8-Colton Book- Lighting Design

This week I worked on the lighting design with the director of photography. We were able to do several lighting workshops on our tech day and also figure out how we’re going to do the police car lighting effect. We didn’t have all of the neccessary lights to do a proper tech day but i think we did a good job with the lights that we had. I took notes and did an overhead lighting diagram to make our production day move much faster.
