Maia-Honors submission, editing, music
I am (figuratively) dying this week under all of the work I may or may no have procrastinated, I promise I will give a more extensive update and edit this week’s blog post as well next week. Ciana and Colton are working on the edit, switching off every couple of days and we are getting it to a place of completion for right now in order to submit to ACM awards and honors. I am working with our composer to figure out music and am struggling with this a bit. He seems to understand when we meet and then the music doesn’t always reflect that so I have been sending more examples. Oh, I really want to change the title but am feeling like I have pigeon-holed myself into this title within ACM and if I change it now people will be confused, so I think I will wait until its festival circuit. I feel like we could use a break after this week to sort of step away from it for a couple of days because as of right now there’s a new edit almost every day or every other day. I really appreciate the work that they have been doing on it and their perseverance to meet these deadlines this week and next. Okay, I wrote more than I thought I would so maybe I won’t have to come back to this one.
Mahina-SAG (continued), paperwork
This week I had my usual fun with SAG. They emailed me after weeks of radio silence to tell me I was missing a contract (which I had but forgot to send them) and give me the SAG logo to put on our film credits. I have a feeling that there are eminent corrections of the forms that they will send me as well as post-production paperwork. I completely understand that it will take longer for them to process and get back to me, but it doesn’t stop me from getting an anxious knot in my stomach waiting for their reply. I started to look at the paperwork to submit for showcase, my next step will probably be to fill that out and get started on the project completion forms.
Ciana – Editing
Our turnaround days have been getting shorter and shorter, but although stressful, it’s nice to see the changes in a short amount of time. It’s definitely has gotten a lot better over this past week! It’s becoming more finalized with less issues. Some focuses for myself this week hav been coloring which I was very excited to do. I’d like to clean it up a little more and make sure everything is matching 100%, but there will be time for that.
Colton- Editing, Audio, Music, & Credits
This week I’ve been working to finalize things before we need to submit. That means getting the audio to proper levels, syncing up the music, getting rid of distracting noises, and doing the credits. I think doing the music is my favorite part of editing because it adds so much more emotion and you can see where our film is going.
